Germantown Ave construction through 5/3

PennDOT and the contractors report that there will be a continued delay in completing this phase of the construction, and work will continue in the same areas as last week. CRESHEIM VALLEY ROAD AND FIRST GERMANTOWN AVENUE CLOSURE:
Germantown Avenue is closed at the construction site at Cresheim Valley Road, and Cresheim Valley is also closed at the intersection at the junction of Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill. Detours remain in effect, with the main detour talking traffic east to Stenton Avenue using Mt. Airy Avenue at the south end in Mt. Airy and Willow Grove Avenue at the north end in Chestnut Hill. All businesses close to the closure can be accessed via Germantown Avenue. This phase will continue for about two more weeks, and the sidewalk access between Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill will remain closed until this phase is completed.

WORK OUTSIDE THE CLOSURES:
Some utility construction will continue outside the closure area, including PGW work in the area of Allens Lane. Lane closures are possible, but the Avenue will remain open to traffic.

Our business neighbors have taken a significant financial hit during the construction, and need to be supported to help keep our community alive and viable. The ice cream and treat trolley at the Trolley Car Diner recently opened for the season, later than usual due to construction.
