Germantown Ave. Construction for the week of 12/10/07

Construction on both sides of the Avenue near campus may cause some disruption/delays, but traffic lanes will be maintained on Germantown and East Gowan Avenues. Here are the details:

WORK PLANNED FOR NEXT WEEK:
West side work near intersection with Gowen Avenue: From Monday until Wednesday, there will be only local traffic on West Gowen Avenue, as water main work continues at that intersection. Businesses at that intersection will be accessible. Affected residents will be notified directly.

Work Behind the Barrier: There will be continued work behind the barrier between Roumfort and McPherson. Again, two way traffic will be maintained. It is possible that McPherson and Roumfort will be closed to all but local traffic for some of the time this work is going on, but both streets will not be closed at the same time. Residents of those streets will be notified directly.

Gas tie-ins in area from Wawa to Valley Green Bank: Next week, gas mains will be tied in in the area of Mr. Peepers Optical and Valley Green Bank. Again, access to businesses will be maintained.

Water main work between East Mt. Airy Avenue and Lutheran Seminary: Beginning Tuesday the 11th, there will be water main work being done on the east side of the Avenue in this area. Traffic will be able to get through. This aspect of the project will be underway for 2-3 weeks.

Work near intersection, Mermaid Lane and Germantown Avenue: Crews will be working next week to tie in gas lines at Mermaid and Germantown Avenue. There will be flaggers and lane shifts.

Presently, there is no night work scheduled, with the possible exception of the Water Department reconnecting water lines after midnight. In this case, affected neighbors are notified directly. There is no work scheduled for Saturday, December 8th.
