Germantown Ave. Sat. 11/10 and the week of 11/12

WORK PLANNED FOR SATURDAY 11/10:
Crews will backfill and put temporary paving down on the west side of Germantown Avenue in the area from Winston Road to Gowen Avenue. Please note that this paving is temporary: when the entire project is completed, the Belgian blocks will be restored on both sides of the avenue, with a concrete pad in the middle to hold the trolley tracks.

WORK PLANNED FOR THE WEEK OF 11/12:
From November 12th -- 16th, water main work will continue on the east side of the Avenue from McPherson to Gowen. This work will be done during the day, and involve sidewalk closures and parking restrictions as it does now.

Work which is taking place on the west side of the Avenue between Allens Lane and Nippon Street should be completed by Wednesday, November 14th. This work will be done during the daytime. When it is finished, it will be filled with a temporary pavement such as what is now in front of Valley Green Bank. (Note that the bank will be closed for Veteran's Day on November 12th. All other businesses remain open as far as we know.)

Night work currently underway near the intersection with McPherson will continue. There will be a test shutdown of the water supply sometime between FRIDAY 11/9 and Tuesday -- near neighbors are being leafletted. There will be a longer shutdown at night - likely Wednesday night -- when the water main is connected. Again, the nearest residents are being informed on an individual basis.

There will continue to be night work in the vicinity of Gowen Avenue, with lane shifts at night. The work will begin sometime around 7 or 8 in the evening, and will continue nightly for 2 - 3 weeks.

IMPACT ON BUSINESSES AND THE SAVE THE AVENUE WEBSITE: As you can imagine, this construction is having, and will continue to have, a negative effect on Germantown Avenue businesses. Please make a special effort to support our business district by patronizing businesses on or near the Avenue now and throughout the construction period. Visit the Save the Avenue website, www.savetheave.org, for updated information, including how you can support our merchants. ALL BUSINESSES ARE OPEN DURING THE CONSTRUCTION.
