WORK PLANNED FOR NEXT WEEK:
West side work near intersection with Allens Lane: On Tuesday, there is work scheduled to take place outside Mr. Peepers Optical next to Wawa. On Wednesday and Thursday, there is work scheduled on the west curbline between Wawa and Gowen Avenue. Two-way traffic will be maintained. This work will continue into the intersection with Gowen the following week. Businesses at that intersection will be accessible.
Work Behind the Barrier: There will be continued work behind the barrier between Roumfort and McPherson. Again, two way traffic will be maintained. It is possible that McPherson and Roumfort will be closed to all but local traffic for some of the time this work is going on, but both streets will not be closed at the same time. Residents of those streets will be notified directly.
Allens Lane Detour: On Tuesday and Wednesday, December 4th and 5th, there is a scheduled detour on Allens Lane between Bryan and Germantown Avenue. Local traffic will be allowed to enter and leave, but cars will be detoured to Bryan and trucks will be detoured to Lincoln Drive and then to Mt. Pleasant. Access to Wawa and Valley Green Bank will be from the Germantown Avneue entrances.
Presently, there is no night work scheduled, with the possible exception of the Water Department reconnecting water lines after midnight. In this case, affected neighbors are notified directly.

Germantown Avenue Construction - Nov. 17 - 30
This report covers the shortened Thanksgiving holiday work week and the week of November 26. Temporary paving down on the west side of Germantown Avenue in the area from Winston Road to Gowen Avenue should be done Saturday the 17th by noon. Please note that this paving is temporary: when the entire project is completed, the Belgian blocks will be restored on both sides of the avenue, with a concrete pad in the middle to hold the trolley tracks.
Between Saturday and Wednesday, there will be water main work on the east side of the Avenue between Cresheim Valley Drive and Gowen, as there has been the past few weeks. There will also be night work in this area on Monday and Tuesday the 19th and 20th.
All work will end at 3:30 pm on Wednesday the 21st and will restart Monday, November 26th because of Thanksgiving holiday.
WORK PLANNED FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 26:
From November 26th -- 30th, water main work will continue throughtout the construction zone. It is possible that barriers will be set up to replace the traffic control barriers beginning the 27th between Cresheim Valley Drive and McPherson. Work behind the barriers will go as deep as 15 feet, which necessitates these safety precautions. Two lane traffic will be maintained, but watch for changing traffic patterns.
Pedestrian traffic is being maintained, except under the train trestle bridge just south of Cresheim Valley Drive.
Since there is no work on Sundays, Advent Vespers guests on December 2 should at most find only changed traffic patterns.

Germantown Ave. Sat. 11/10 and the week of 11/12

When it is finished, it will be filled with a temporary pavement such as what is now in front of Valley Green Bank. (Note that the bank will be closed for Veteran's Day on November 12th. All other businesses remain open as far as we know.)
Night work currently underway near the intersection with McPherson will continue. There will be a test shutdown of the water supply sometime between FRIDAY 11/9 and Tuesday -- near neighbors are being leafletted. There will be a longer shutdown at night - likely Wednesday night -- when the water main is connected. Again, the nearest residents are being informed on an individual basis.

Germantown Avenue for the week of Nov 5
Saturday, Nov. 3 will see crews continuing to install high pressure gas lines from Cresheim Valley Drive to the Trolley Car Diner and to install a water main from Roumfort Road to Gowen Avenue. The east sidewalk is closed due to this work. There is no work planned for Sunday.
The night work on the west side between Allens Lane and Nippon Street (across from the chapel) will continue next week between 9 pm and 7 am. This work is scheduled to be completed by Friday, November 9th. Please note that businesses in that area continue to be open during their scheduled hours.
In addition, there will be sawcutting of the trolley tracks at night starting Monday of next week, starting at Roumfort Road and moving up to Gowen Avenue. Staggered lane traffic will be in effect at night when this work is going on. Please note that Brewer's Outlet and Cresheim Cottage Cafe will continue to be accessible as this work reaches Gowen Avenue.
Traffic will continue to be tied up around the intersection with Cresheim Valley Road as Philadelphia Gas Works comes in to tie into the newly-installed high pressure line. This aspect of the work should be completed by the 9th.
The tree work is almost complete, with just some trimming around the Lutheran Seminary.

Germantown Avenue construction this week mostly effects the area north of Gowen Avenue

PARKING ON GERMANTOWN AVENUE: Tree work will continue into the week, so there will still be no parking signs. However, the contractors have promised to pull as many no parking signs as possible. Please note that except in areas with weekend construction activity, PARKING RESTRICTIONS WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT SATURDAY, SUNDAY AND IN THE EVENINGS. WORK PLANNED FOR WEEK OF OCTOBER 22nd AND FOLLOWING: Crews will continue to work on the high pressure gas line in the area of Mermaid Land and the railroad bridge over Germantown Avenue. There will be work Saturday and Sunday. There will be flagging and lane closures. It is now doubtful that this work will be completed before October 22nd, as originally planned and as reported last week. However, this work cannot continue when the cold weather starts, so crews are working to complete it as soon as possible.

The paving over of the west side curb line near the Trolley Car Diner and New Covenant Campus will now be done after the gas main work is completed. Entrances to the Diner and New Covenant will remain open at all times.
